Consulting, Management, and Training
Hughes Gas Measurement, Inc. is able to aid producers in two main areas of operations:
Marketing Tools
Hughes Gas Measurement, Inc. (HGMI) is able to aid producers with selection, implementation and maintenance of certain marketing tools to give your company a cost effective competitive marketing edge. Low cost innovative technology can be used to provide the information you need for meeting market agreements.
Error Prevention and Recovery
HGMI is able to aid with error prevention and recovery of lost gas volumes. These days companies are buying and selling properties at a rate that causes much confusion as to which direction the gas is going and to whom. At the end of each month do all the transportation (pipeline company) volume statements agree with the producer's measurement records for delivery? And then, what about the end user (purchaser) statements? Did you really receive compensation for the correct amount measured, or did your gas delivery shrink due to some adjustment?
What about the pipeline company's cost cutting and downsizing techniques? How do these techniques effect your sales? Many of these cost cutting decisions are made without practical knowledge or understanding of their long term effects upon the measurement system. It appears that the stock market is making many of the operational decisions in the industry. This is a trend not only in the petroleum industry, but in the medical field and other areas of expertise. Many cost cutting cuts may be warranted. However, it still remains that without proper attention, certain parts of any machine or operation will fail causing major problems throughout the realm of the company.

A comprehensive gas measurement program in today's environment should consist of the following procedures to provide for checks and balances.
| Document and evaluate the flow of information and reorganize routes of information flow where necessary to meet obligations and provide checks and balances.
| Meter tests and maintenance to provide for reliable numbers in wellhead production reports. This aids in prevention of the time consuming task of unraveling errors after disbursements have been made.
| Witness testing provides a check against pipeline company gas tariffs. Some gas tariffs do not allow for reconciliation of gas volumes after 30 to 60 days of flow in error. With today's cost cutting procedures utilizing a small number of employees, it is best to catch mistakes before they cause errors and become irreconcilable. Now it has become necessary to drive the pipeline company's meter testing schedule.
| Check measurement on cost effective pipeline delivery points. |
| Gas analysis on wellhead meters at specified cost effective intervals.
| EFM's, some with communications and/or alarms, on large production sites, to aid in achieving required nominations. Supply the decision makers with the proper timely information by giving them the right tools.
| Gas system balances to reconcile gas volume statements, and uncover production problems.
| Review production charts to uncover production and measurement problems.
| Chart processing. |
| EFM data processing. |
| Audits of pipeline company charts, volume statements, and EFM records.
| Adjustment requests uncovered by audits with a follow-up on pipeline company response.
| Legal action procedures to spur apathetic or arrogant pipeline companies into settlement.
